Resident Training Program for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

The Korean Association of Psychoanalysis has prepared the most straightforward and practical educational program on psychoanalytic psychotherapy for residents

The demands for psychiatric treatment, especially psychoanalytic therapy, are increasing as stress, depression, anxiety, and confusion about identity have become prevalent social issues for modern individuals. It is natural for specialists who will carry the future of Korean psychiatry to have a deep interest in psychoanalytic therapy and seek opportunities for learning.

In response, KPS has prepared the best, standardized curriculum that is easy, convenient, practical, and optimized for specialists.

The program consists of lectures by psychoanalysts with extensive experience in psychoanalytic therapy education and practical training through actual cases. All lectures are conducted online, and a new textbook specially created for this program will be provided, with the content being easily understandable and applicable for specialists of all levels. The case studies will help specialists understand each lecture topic better and apply it clinically.

The program will conclude with a small party, where all instructors and trainees will gather at the KPS office in Seoul to have diverse and extensive conversations.

The program consists of Part I (April-July) and Part II (September-November), and each part requires a separate application. Each session is conducted on Zoom on Fridays from 7:30 to 9:30 PM for two hours.

Part I is designed for residents in their first to fourth year and is composed of essential lectures on psychoanalytic therapy. The latter half of each session includes practical exercises based on real cases.

Part II is designed for residents in their third to fourth year. It consists of lectures on key psychoanalytic theories that will help residents construct hypotheses about the psychic dynamics of their individual cases and practical exercises that aid in writing up the treatment progress for the second specialist certification exam. Additionally, all participants will be assigned individual writing mentors to consult on a variety of questions and issues.

Part II begins in September of this year, and recruitment for the program will be conducted in July.
